Things That Amuse Me
Sometime in the last few months, Rice has actually managed to find me. It took them pretty much a decade to pull it off, but now I get the alumni newsletter thingy and the Sallyport and I'm on the local Denver alumni mailing list, which is actually kind of nice and worth the occasional appeal for money (interestingly, my high school never lost track of me through at least ten or fifteen moves, but Rice pretty much lost me right away). Of course, it makes me wonder how the heck they actually DID find me without me telling them where I was, and it amuses me to think that I'll be ending up in Japan in a while anyway, and there's no telling what might happen then.

Let's see, what else... I just increased the number of people on my friends list by about fifty percent in one orgy of, er, friend-adding. Someone I know commented on a post in a journal I read, and so I added them, and started following the trail of friends to find a reasonably large chunk of KC fandom and associated people. So, I added a few of them, too. We'll see how long it takes them to realize that I've shown up, or if they post something interesting, perhaps I'll pipe up (I've more or less fallen out of touch with most of the people around KC, given that I haven't visited in a couple of years now. I haven't really gone anywhere very far away from Denver in quite some time, actually. Hopefully that will change -- if I do end up going to Japan in the November-ish timeframe I'm currently hoping for, I'd like to spend some time seeing people before I go).

Of course, adding that many people, I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up, and might end up having to drop a few.

Also... Cleaned up the apartment some, which had gotten quite embarrasingly messy. Didn't do a terribly thorough job, mind you, but almost anythinig would have been an immense improvement. Hopefully I'll keep that momentum going over the next week or so as I prepare for RMSS.

Depends how you interpret it. If we're still talking general plans to go to Japan at some point, yes, I've mentioned that periodically. If we're taking about something specific, no, I haven't gotten anything lined up yet.

Re: Hey its you!!!
Gus has a good memory for such a fun guy.

But heck, I've been on LJ for years now, stumbling across your journal is the recent development (until yesterday or whenever, it was a mere three degrees of separation).

And yeah, I wish I could have made ConQuesT this year. If I hadn't just started the job in April, I probably would have, but as it was, no vacation time yet and couldn't get away. On the other hand, if I do end up leaving for Japan November-ish, I'll try to swing by and visit people sometime before that.
