Three Minutes, Twenty-Four Seconds Of Fame
Well, I can now say I've been paid for writing fiction. Mind you, it was more or less by accident, and you could almost say I backed into it, as I hadn't intended the piece for sale nor submitted it, but I guess when you know people and they know what they want, they sometimes find you. At any rate, what is unquestionably true is that Steve Eley (the occasionally damned, sfeley) has bought, recorded, and published one of my writing exercises ("Ubiquitous") on Escape Pod. Yay me!

So, go listen to the first piece of writing I've ever had published.

I must say that it sounds very odd to hear something I've written read by someone else, and doubly odd to hear them read my name.

Damn Me, Steve Eley! (Oh wait.)
You also had the strange luck to have your story released a couple of hours before iTunes 4.9 hit the wires, with built-in support for podcasting. Which has already caused a pretty good spike in Escape Pod's subscription count, and which means that your story will be the first thing that many new listeners hear. It already has the highest first-day download count on record for us, and the day's not done yet.

Good thing it's a good story.

Yeah, no pressure or anything. :)
