So, I should probably mention here (for networking purposes if nothing else) that I am looking for work as a programmer again (or really, as anything that's decent, but that's what I have experience in, hey?) I have a (slight) preference for jobs in Japan, but Colorado is good too. Actually, if the job is nice enough, not really too fixed on any particular country (moreso, ironically, for place within a country), but for practical reasons, US and Japan (that is, Tokyo and Denver) are the easiest to deal with.

I've actually been looking (somewhat seriously) for a short time now, although not so much before that, not least of which because of honeymoon and other reasons, but also because I've been burning money rather less quickly than expected the last few months, so don't have quite the immediate pressure I expected to have.

But now... It's time.

Do you know Java? The company I used to work for here in Lansing is paying HUGE incentives (I heard 20K signing bonus if you commit for two years or something... but it's hearsay from my POV since I don't actually work there anymore) and referral bonus' for Java Programmers.

The upside IS they do have a large Denver office, but I don't know if they do much IT work out of there anymore. They used to do some. It could be something you could work out.

Yeah, I've done a bit of Java. Not really interesting in going to Lansing, though -- be one thing if I could work in Denver.

But, I'm looking in Tokyo first; haven't quite started looking for US work yet, although I suppose if something I couldn't turn down came to me... I'm not holding my breath, though.

My company hires programmers too. Plus if you work at the Denver office, it would be a super short commute!

Hmmm. That would be appealing.

But I'm not really actively looking in Denver quite yet (i.e., not putting much effort in lining up interviews while still 6k miles away); going to give Tokyo a shot first.
