Ice Cream City (And Sundry)
So, made it back to Gyoza Stadium and Ice Cream City in the Namjatown in Sunshine City again yesterday for the first time in (almost nearly) two years. Of course, much gyoza was consumed, and strange ice cream acquired (although not sampled until after, and not yet eaten), and even some DDR played (but not in Sunshine City). It was a lot easier navigating the food this time with random (mostly Japanese) friends and a stronger command of the language.

Look on my ice cream, ye mighty, and all that (annotated for your pleasure):

Also, your Hamamatsucho Little Peeing boy update, here styling for the summertime weather with flower power:

Also, unrelated, my new favorite station name is 西葛西 ("nishikasai") on the Tozai Line (literally "east-west"). The reason it amuses me is that while Japanese words and names tend to avoid mixing "on" and "kun" readings (that is, Chinese and native Japanese pronunciations of characters -- tend to, that is, it's obviously not a hard-and-fast rule), this one not only has both, it has both readings of the same character.

This displaces my previous favorite station name, 上飯島 ("kamiiijima") on the Oga Line in Akita Prefecture. But I just liked that one because it sounded (and looked) silly.

Gllgh. I'm so jealous. Charcoal ice cream? That's so kick ass. It's going on my list. Ditto with the chicken wing ice cream.

Everything else I've had (okay, not those particular brands, but I did have a very good persimmon-honey ice cream at a relative's house- I liked it so much I planted a persimmon tree in my yard), more or less. I enjoyed my mashed potato and butter ice cream. I've had several pumpkins ranging from okay to lousy. The tomato ice creams, well, tomatoes are my favorite fruit/veggie, but sadly, I've only had one good one (all the asian ones were awful- not as bad as duck feet webbing, but close). The beer ice cream I've had tasted like beer which is bad since I only like about 4 different beers (oatmeal stout, honey brown, and two I can't think of, but one of them was pumpkin flavored). Couldn't stand the wasabi ice cream, but I did like more than I normally do (wasabi on sushi). Can't say I've ever had cow tongue ice cream, though it does sound interesting.

Charcoal ice cream. AHahahaha. I have got to have that flavor.
