Interesting Things
Was reading up on Malaysian history today on Wikipedia (for no apparent reason, of course), and while following the links around, discovered that (according to the wiki page), Singapore is the only nation in modern history to have received independence against its will -- it was actually expelled from Malaysia in 1965.

Of course, I love these sorts of historical oddities, like the story of Berwick-upon-Tweed's 100+ year war with Russia (see also: origin of the term "balaclava"), and the British-American war over the San Juan Islands in 1859 (total casualties: one pig).

Wikipedia is still pretty awesome, even with its not inconsiderable flaws.

Wikipedia FTW
XKCD has a relevant strip, of course.

Now I just have to realize my plan of translating stuff from ja.wikipedia.org to en.wikipedia.org, and adding pictures along the way. (I might replace all of the Okazaki pictures with new ones taken by me) Although, up to now I have tried to avoid writing copy for Wikipedia, so the politics might rear its head.
