Promise
The man to watch on the Eagles is Hisashi Iwakuma. He pitched well during the WBC.

Re: Promise
I'll keep my eyes open.

I'm not sure yet if they ever broadcast the games here (I guess if they play someone local, like the Giants), but I haven't really figured out what channels show what anyway.

Well, I might appreciate them more if, say, I went deaf.

Rakuten Eagles
Rakuten has been amazingly good this year (4 strait wins so far)!
It is very unusual for the team, which is basically considered a local team and "O-nimotsu" or a burden on the Japanese professional leagues, even among the less popular Pacific League. (I hate to say, but Rakuten used to be just like the Colorado Rockies).
But thanks to some star players, Rakuten is doing well this year.
If you want to see them and experience the atmosphere, go to Sendai, their hometown!

Re: Rakuten Eagles
Well, they've steadily improved every year (which isn't so many, so yes, very much like the early days of the Rockies).

I adopted them because I was in Sendai on or about opening day in 2007, and everyone was so enthusiastic that I had to pick them as my team.
