Where The Miles Are Short, The Feet Are Long, And The Money Is Funny
So, we're watching curling on the hotel TV in Canmore, drinking peach cider. Happy birthday to me!

But, well, trying not to think about how much it cost to fill up the tank. That's gonna leave a mark.

Anyway, left Montana early (spend the night in Shelby -- it was kind of funny in customs, they were like "so, you drove all the way from Denver just to spend three days in Canada?" Okay, yeah, I guess if you put it that way, it does sound a bit suspicous), hit Calgary a bit after noon, had dim sum in Chinatown (not the best dim sum ever, but dim sum is always a gamble. The shrimp dumplings were easily the best I've ever had. The pork dumplings possibly the worst).

We went to the top the Calgary tower. I might have gotten a bunch of awesome pictures, but I'd dropped the camera, and the lens was -- unknown to me -- jammed in f/4 (while the camera was metering for well, not exactly set for f/4), so pretty much every single picture I took all afternoon with the SLR was a total loss (from the tower, wandering around +15, the dim sum restaurant, the Korean restaurant front, mostly over-exposed to full frames of white). So you guys will be safe from those. On the other hand, I got the important pictures with the pocket camera, so it's fine. And what I really wanted that camera for was Banff tomorrow. Still a shame, though.

Anyway, we did the Korean BBQ at the Korean place a Japanese friend suggested (since she'd done a year of college in Calgary, although she lives in Tokyo or Kawasaki I think these days), which was great (almost keeping up the yakiniku tradition). And here we are, chilling out before hitting Banff tomorrow. Woo.

WAAAH, I wanna go to Banff
Some friends took their honeymoon there and the photos they brought back were spectacular. they stayed at that faboo lodge too.

Happy birthday, honey! hugs across the e-ways, glad you're having a good time.

Re: WAAAH, I wanna go to Banff
Banff is arguably better when it's not still deep in the throes of the Canadian winter. Not that that doesn't have its charm, too.

It would have more charm if it wasn't cloudy and overcast.
