It's a fairly large coincidence when you run into somebody you know in the post office, I guess. This is the first time it's happened to me, actually.

It's a much bigger coincidence when you run into somebody you know that doesn't actually currently live in the same country as you.

Once, returning from a California trip, I picked up a backpacking hippie-looking hitchhiker on Loveland Pass at the Continental Divide, who had just finished a few months of hiking down the Divide from Canada. It took us twenty minutes to recognize each other and realize we were cousins. (We hadn't seen in each other in quite a while.) And we were both heading east to Denver to stay overnight with our aunt, our respective mom's other sister.

He had literally just made it to the highway and stuck out his thumb next the "Divide" sign, and mine was the first car he saw. What're the odds?
