Well, the finances are under control now, and I once again have money in the bank and can start stockpiling for my quarterly taxes and such.

Unfortunately, with an expected $500-ish car repair in the immediate future and needing to save up for Yokohama (in addition to the taxes), I'm considering skipping ConQuesT this year. Given that the convention would cost me $500-700 in hotel, transportation (airfare, maybe rental car -- with current gas prices, it actually is cheaper to fly than drive, barely), and incidentals, I'm not sure I want to commit to spending that much at the moment.

Of course, I could burn some air miles and fly to Kansas City (after the recent trip to Japan, I'm up over 25k miles again -- although it's probably better to save those for a wedding I'm going to in August), which would cut a couple hundred off the top of that. So I haven't definitively decided not to go yet, but...

I suppose I'll probably decide in the next few days here. It seems unlikely, though.

I understand the $$ thing, but you make ConQuesT ever so much more interesting when you're here. ;)
