Bear Peak

Climbed Bear Peak yesterday -- 7.7 miles, 3200 feet cumulative vertical gain, to an altitude of 8461 feet (although I almost never climb that last twenty feet or so, it's kind of a pain). Totally wore myself out (no wonder, it was 600 feet and almost two miles farther than I thought it was -- and I somewhat overestimated what kind of shape I was in for the first major hike of the season).

Also, the stream crossings were worse than I remembered, probably because it's spring and there's lots of snowmelt (especially this year). Banged myself up pretty good falling down on one crossing (thought I'd just gotten both my knees and one of my forearms, realized this morning I'd gotten a shin, too). No big deal, really, it'll heal. Still a bit tired today, though.

Anyway, flickr pics here (I'm too lazy to embed anything today).
