I now have my bed, my dresser, and my workin' table in the new place.

And man, it was nice to sleep in my bed again. Ah, luxury. Although I did have to move it from where I put it yesterday, since the overload of morning sunshine from the window next to my head was kinda a bit much. Of course, I also put it in the smaller bedroom, so it's pretty much taking up the whole room, and options for moving it were limited, but it turns out that the place I originally wanted to put it actually does clear the door, so it's actually better this way.

As if any of y'all cared.

But the workin' table ought to be good for the neck, back, or whatever body parts eventually rebel when you're using a laptop on the floor all the time. Although the rest of me is sore from all the moving. Which isn't unusual for this month, given that I've been moving for several weeks now.

I was kinda hoping to do a dinner-party-ish sorta thing tonight, maybe invite a few people, and then poison them with my cooking, but I haven't managed to move the kitchen yet (only parts of it), so that plan kinda went out the window (I could have moved it today, but besides being sore I'm tired of moving, and don't feel like carrying crap up my stairs three days in a row). So, maybe next week.

And some point here, I need to put up the travel post, too. Okay, on to the next rock.

Well, looks like I'll be travelling around a bit this year. So, overview time:

Kansas City, Memorial Day weekend: I'm now planning to return to ConQuesT for the first time in several years. It'll be a car trip (since it's a lot more convenient to have the car, and it's definitely within easy driving distance). Don't know the exact days yet -- I'll be driving back on Monday, but I haven't decided if I'll be driving Thursday or Friday yet.

Houston, sometime in June: I don't know the exact date yet, but this will be a weekend flight. I suppose it's theoretically possible (but unlikely) that it will pre-empt the above trip, but I seriously doubt it'll be that early. I'm not going to say what it's all about, since I've been sworn to secrecy, but it'll be cool.

Germany for the World Cup: well, I'd wanted to go, but no way in hell it's going to happen at this point. Ah, well. At least I have TV to watch the games on again.

Los Angeles (well, Anaheim), Labor Day weekend (or thereabouts): the World Science Fiction convention. It'll be the first WorldCon I've attended since Millenium Philcon back in 2001; there are several reasons I want to make it, but the bottom line is that it should be fun, despite being in LA (it took various factors to overcome that unfortunate fact).

San Francisco (and Oakland and San Mateo and maybe Gilroy and Monterray): I've been wanting to make it back out there for a while, and while it may or may not happen, there's a couple possible scenarios. I might make it out for the Gilroy Garlic Festival in late July (I'd been meaning to visit during the festival for a while now), or it might end up being a side leg of a WorldCon trip a month after than. It's hard to say how that will turn out.

Japan: well, I'd like to go, but don't have anything solid here. I could probably afford a trip late in the year sometime, though.
