Piano sonatas are painful at 96kbps.

I'm considering upping the quality to 128kbps on my shoutcast server.

Update: it didn't really make that much of a difference, so back to 96kbps we go. It seems that perhaps I should have encoded those tracks at something better than 128kpbs -- for the record, this is the first time I've noticed the lossiness of MP3s at 128kpbs, but with higher-pitched piano notes, the loss in quality is glaring (although the original -- non-re-encoded -- tracks are ever-so-slightly better).

Oh, well.

Useless Japanese phrase of the week: まんタンにしてください (mantan ni shite kudasai -- "fill 'er up, please"). Well, I suppose I might use it someday, but something like ガソリンおねがいします (gasorin onegai shimasu -- "gasoline, pretty please!") would probably do the trick, anyway.

ガソリンおねがいします! -- Gasorin, onegai shimasu!

二十リッターください! -- Nijuu rittaa kudasai! ("Twenty liters, please!")

The 日本語 (Japanese) is getting along pretty well, I think. Almost done with Pimsleur Level 1. Almost time to stick the set up on EBay and see if I can recover some of my money on it.

...For anyone who wants a lot of listeners on their shoutcast server.

Play classical.

Geez. I think I'll up the connections to 10 on Sundays, and not use the upstream connection for anything else. Not that I was going to, anyway.
