Montreal, Ne?
Well, anybody going? A long time away I guess, but I'm not particularly... Enthusiastic about going.

At least I won't be working that year. Right now, that seems really nice (it's not so much that I'm really working that hard, but between that, not taking much of a break after Fuji-sama, trying to squeeze in social time with people I want to see, and not really sleeping all that well... You know...)

Montreal got it? Huh... and to think so many people thought that the Windy City was a shoo-in.

Speaking of Montreal, my boss says he met "a friend of mine" at the con. I'm assuming it was you. Tall, glasses, from Montreal = my boss^-^.

Yeah, I ran in to him, completely at random.

And it was Kansas City running, not Chicago. Chicago bid last year.

Probaby.

That will make two early August WorldCons in a row.

Yeah, we'll see. It's really early, though.

Montreal has been on my list of places to visit. Winnipeg wasn't, though.

To a certain extent, it doesn't matter where it is -- unless it's not in the U.S., and then I guess it does. Oh, that gets to be a complicated topic, what matters and what doesn't.

But most important is who will be there, and that can be hard to predict even at the last minute, much less this far out.

Aside from the guests of honor, you're right.

Heck, even with the guests of honor; wasn't the most recent LACon plagued by the demise of multiple GoH?

Winnipeg was a much better WorldCon than Toronto. One of my favorites ever.

It is memories of Winnipeg that give me hopes for Montreal. I wish them all the best.

OK, maybe that little incident at Customs with the case of beer and the rubber gloves is not one of my fondest memories, or my camera getting snatched at 5am in the hotel lobby, but I still had a wonderful time at Conadian.
